Bill Compton [A strangely handsome man, looks 25-35 (He's really 166), with dark hair, dark eyes and old-fashioned sideburns; Rugged, but with an air of refinement, Bill is a vampire, the first to come into Merlotte's bar. Gracious, unnaturally calm but also unnervingly sexy, Bill immediately attracts the attention of Sookie, with whom he flirts mildly, but also that of Mack and Denise Rattray, who unabashedly fawn on him. A proud man, Bill is not happy to acknowledge his debt to Sookie when she rescues him from the Rattrays, who turn out to be blood drainers who would have drained and sold his blood if not for Sookie's intervention. Eric Northman (Vampire Sheriff) [30s, attractive, fit, very tall. Eric is the vampire sheriff of area 5 in Louisiana and owner of the vampire club Fangtasia in Shreveport. Hoyt Fortenberry [Late 20's, nondescript. He's a friend and fellow worker of Jason and Rene Lenier; he's on hand when Jason is taken off by the cops in relation to the murder of Maudette [Pickens]. Jason Stackhouse [Sookie's brother, Jason is effortlessly hot and a total horndog with a mischievous grin which gets him into a lot of trouble, and most of time gets him out of it as well. Self-absorbed, egotistical, capable of charm, sexually rambunctious, with a dark streak, Jason has clearly been involved with many women in his small town; however, his latest sexual encounter with Maudette [Pickens], later found dead, is obviously going to cause him a lot of trouble. 27 to 29. Jessica Hamby [17. This wholesome, churchgoing, beautiful girl is petrified to discover that she is going to be sacrificed as part of a vampire punishment. Lafayette Reynolds (Original casting call character's name was Lafayette Washington) [20's-30's, African-American, solidly built. Lafayette is not in the least bit feminine - EXCEPT WHEN HE WANTS TO BE, even though when he's working the grill at Merlotte's he sports lipstick, eye shadow and club wear under his chef's white; at his day job with the County Road Works he wears a doo-rag and jumpsuit pulled down to the waist, revealing his powerful torso, making him look like a gangsta rapper. Gay and unapologetic -- in fact, he's strong enough to do serious damage to anyone who gives him any grief about it and would relish such an opportunity. Lafayette loves making the girls at Merlotte's crazy with his frankly sexual talk. Recurring.]		Nelsan Ellis

Nan Flanagan [A pale, conservative looking woman, media savvy, who speaks with authority. She's a vampire who represents the Vampire Rights Amendment, and she's interviewed by CNN pundit Anderson Cooper. She speaks passionately and intelligently about her cause. Pa m De Beaufort [Pale, tall, attractive, blonde vampire co-owner of Fangtasia. She is Eric Northman's progeny and is very loyal to him. Is sarcastic and says what she thinks. Wears over-the-top outfits at the club but prefers vintage clothing. Can be lethal if needed. Prefers women.]		Kristin Bauer

Sam Merlotte [Quiet but strong, with eyes that immediately put you at your ease, Sam is the owner of Merlotte's bar/restaurant, where Sookie works. A decent guy who's secretly in love with Sookie, Sam is very concerned when Sookie is instantly attracted to Bill Compton, the bar's first vampire customer, and he's furious when she puts herself in real danger by going to Bill's aid against blood-drainers Denise and Mack Rattray. Sam hires Sookie's best friend Tara to work in the bar, and though he's not thrilled with her habit of going off on customers, he does recognize that, as Tara says, he'd have some help keeping an eye on Sookie. Sookie Stackhouse [Early to mid 20s, authentic Southern energy and accent a must, Female, Caucasian. Blonde, fit and tan, pretty but wary, can seem a bit prim (She disdains certain bad language and behavior), Sookie is spirited and independent--or at least, trying to be--but life has left scars on her--scars we may not be able to see but can somehow tell are there. Blessed/cursed with the ability to hear people's thoughts, Sookie lives with her loving grandmother (Her parents apparently died when she was young) but has always been an outsider, and is well aware of it from hearing people's sometimes cruel thoughts. Sookie, like the rest of the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, is intrigued by the idea of the assimilation of vampires into the population, but she's surprised by her feelings when a real vampire, Bill Compton, comes into the bar where she works, sparking all sorts of complications in her life.]		Anna Paquin

Tara Thornton [Mid to late 20s, Female, African-American. Smart, articulate, impatient and beautiful, Tara does not suffer fools gladly; in fact, she doesn't suffer them at all, which is why she frequently gets fired from her jobs after telling clients/customers what she really thinks of them. Good friends with Sookie, Tara winds up working at Merlotte's bar with her, where the plain-speaking Tara informs an oblivious Sookie that the owner, Sam, is obviously in love with her. Tara herself has a thing for Sookie's brother, Jason, but she's more concerned about Sookie's potentially dangerous attraction to a vampire. Southern; Authentic Southern accent is required.]		Rutina Wesley

Terry Bellefleur [A war veteran who works at Merlottes as a bartender and cook with a heart of gold. He suffers from PTS from his time in the service and is awkward around people. Says off the wall comments to staff and bar patrons.]		Todd Lowe

Hello to all of my fellow Sam fans!!

I have checked, and there does not seem to be a Spoiler-Free thread for Sam!
Therefore, I considered it important that I create one, since there may be many in our community who have not yet had the pleasure of reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels and short stories.

This thread is only for discussing Sam Merlotte on True Blood or Sam Trammell, the actor who plays Sam Merlotte!
No Book Discussion Allowed!
(Unless your comparing his character's traits from book to screen -- that's acceptable! Just no book-story/plot spoilers)

You may discuss Sam's character, Sam's relationships and storylines on True Blood, including speculations
on his story for future seasons. You may talk about fan-fiction that includes Sam.
You may talk about Sam Trammell, the actor, and how he plays the role of Sam Merlotte, or about other roles you've seen him in.

Wow! I totally forgot about this thread! I think it's time to refresh and revitalize this discussion, so how about it, Bill&Sookie fans!

I've just read some of the previous posts, which are from months and months ago, but they are great to read, and reflect so well how many of us feel about Sookie and Bill.
This is some season, and I am loving it so far! The Tara situation is consuming Sookie's attention, as well as the threat of being charged with Debbie Pelt's murder. Sookie has a lot to deal with, and I, for one, and glad her vampire suitors are not involved in these events.

But soon, if we are to believe the promos, they will come looking for her, in order to have her join them on their search for RE. I wonder how she will feel about that? After all, she will be leaving Tara in a very damaged, fearful and confused state of mind. She will also disappear from BT, when there is an ongoing investigation into the DP disappearance. That may look bad.

IMO, Bill will recruit Sookie for the main reason of keeping her safe. She is so vulnerable to RE, since she is in a vampire-friendly house, now that Eric owns it . There is no one in BT that could protect her as well as Bill and/or Eric could from RE.

At this time Bill and Eric are working together, and although both want Sookie, and Bill has loved her for so long, their purpose is for themselves and the larger vampire society, and must take precedence over their individual wants and desires.
Let me amend that statement. We know Bill's purpose for eliminating RE is for the good of the larger vampire society, as well as saving his own neck. We don't really know if Eric is interested in eliminating RE for his own safety alone, or if he, too, is considering the fate of all vampires.
Be that as it may, I am hoping they continue to act as comrades, and let their animosity over Sookie rest for now!
