Is her screen character true to her book character? If so, it's possible Martin wrote here that way to emphasize the way she was raised. Most likely, before Sam, she was never spoken *to*: she was spoken *at*. No one ever cared about her thoughts or tried to have a conversation with her. It's tantamount to trying to have a conversation with a toddler...a toddler who speaks a different language, at that.

Alexander's part in Battleship was "Almost non existant" he wasn't onscreen long enough~ The guy who played his brother had a longer part.

"Hold on, hon! He'll be asking more of those types of questions in the near future! Here in PA, they take the 5th graders overnight to our Science Center & go through the "big talk" (with parental permission, of course!). I guess they're able to use all of the things the Science Center is able to provide for the explanations & not too many kids seem affected. They're all more excited about the sleepover, and frankly, these days they already know more about sex except for maybe the biological intricacies so they may be bored with the "talk" & the presentation! One day when my daughter was 10, we were riding down the highway & a commercial came on about talking to your kids about sex. So I asked her if she had any questions; she thought for a few minutes & then said, "Yeah. Why are condoms flavored?" I almost drove off the road...so NOT what I was expecting! "
