HBO has created such a great standard for quality shows, I had to start watching this one. I haven't read the books, but am very intrigued by the plot of the show. Great characters, writing, and acting. This show has that Soprano's addictive quality to it by not wanting it to end after the hour is over, and waiting with great anticipation until the next episode airs. This show rocks!! " Aloha I'm also a Libra from way the heck out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It's nice to see that I'm not alone in thinking this show is very addictive much like The Sopranos, The Wire, and In Treatment. I just wish I didn't have to wait until Sunday to watch new episodes. I'm tempted to read the spoilers, but it makes watching the show that much better. I do have one question though, does Bill have any allies? He seems to be the only Vamp that wants to actually "mainstream". There's a big push for equal rights and all that for Vampires, but he's the only one shown actually trying to mainstream. I am addicted to a couple things: Football, Dexter, anything CSI, now True Blood and back when....Six Feet Under, Sex & the City and the Sopranos... Funny thing that I dont do TV...only cable shows....lol! I do not have an addictive nature....except for my love for vamps from when I was a teen.... Stoker's Dracula, Interview w/A Vampire, Queen of the Damned...etc. It is my biggest turn on...vampires and from what I can read here.. I am thankfully NOT alone. I had a festival to run yesterday and a wedding to officiate today! My real name is Amie, I picked Maharet as a user name because Morgaine picked my usual one :) She's a cool chick. I own a metaphysical shop and am a mobile dog groomer. I'm married almost 8 years, no kids yet (but trying)... and I have 5 dogs. I've always had a Vampire fetish... and am a big Anne Rice fan. My cousin (who has a film degree) told me about True Blood and I was curious... he said they were based off the Southern Vampire Series... which confused the heck out of me since Rice's books are also based in Louisiana.. but now I get it! After episode one I bought all 8 books and read them in about a week. Totally hooked now! I love the show AND I love the books. I know some people are having a hard time with both. How 'bout youse?" I "discovered" Stephen Moyer when I rented "Restraint" -- I thought the 3-way interactions were like swordplay... and he carried the movie with his role -- That scene in the end, when he realizes.... Whoooops, no spoilers! But oo-whee, I was sure taken with his attractive looks and those eyes!!! But even more, his talent!!! So when my daughter filled me in that he was picked for TrueBlood, I was drawn in like a moth to flame!!! His acting chops are so subtle but so "right on" as Bill Compton... every emotion he feels is conveyed in his face and eyes the way so many actors cannot even begin to achieve... He is going to go far, now that he has been "discovered" in the States! He's been a TV/theater actor in UK for years... formerly with Royal Shakespeare Company... I also have a "thing" for romantic couples... when mutual passion pulls them together, and they are able to maintain a loving relationship with common interests and goals and respect for each other within a private life... anti-tabloid. Newman/Woodward, Jolie/Pitt, Edward V/Simpson, My son/my daughter-in-law, my husband/me......... and now I can add Moyer/Paquin to my list of couples that ignite a passion in me... Not reading the books until after Season I ends... can't wait. LOVING the show from all levels: sheer physical lust to more esoteric themes: the duality of life, parallels/contrasts beween vamps/humans, humans/humans, vamps/vamps, life/death, true love/true lust!!! The teamwork between Ball/Harris comes through, and you know they are in love with this show, too!!! Comes through in every scene!!! LOVE IT ALL!
