40. RE: Read the books? What are your favorite quotes?

"As much as I'm firmly on team Eric, rereading book 2 still puts Bill firmly in the competition.Oh, no doubt that's hot (God, I sound like Paris), but everything that happened after that Throws Bill on the back burner... *see shower scene, book 4, post-staking scene, Book 3, post-fairy dinner scene, book 8, post-shooting, Book 5, pre- date with Quinn, book 6, blood swap, book 7.... etc, etc...* "Thank you, eric." "For what?" His hand gently stroked my stomach. "For standing by me in the club. For coming here with me. For not leaving me alone with these people." "How grateful are you?"... "That kind of ruins it, when you say something like that," I said, trying to keep my voice gentle. "You shouldn't want me to have sex with you just because I owe you." "I don't really care why you have sex with me, as long as you do it," he said, equally gently. His mouth was on mine then. Try as I might to stay detached, I wasn't too successful. For one thing, Eric has had hundreds of years to practice his kissing technique and he'd used them to his advantage. I snuck my hands up to his shoulders and I am ashamed to say, I responded... Eric seemed to have six hands and they were everywhere, encouraging my body to have its way. A finger slid under the elastic of my (minimal) panties and glided right into me. I made a noise, and it was not a noise of rejection. The finger began moving in a wonderful rhythm. Eric's mouth seemed bent on sucking my tongue down his throat..... Again, Damn Bubba! 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

These are all lovely scenes, and frankly, I can't pic a team, I think she should make the most of them both, in spite of what Bill has done and Eric hasn't done. What I don't want to see at all is the disturbing detour into the WERE bullshit. We don't need any Alcide or Quinn getting in the way. Sookie needs to stick to the "humans or better" philosophy. Were-anything is a step down.

"To be completely fair though, Quinn would have been great if he a) didn't have the family baggage (Sookie deserves to come first for one) and b) didn't have a premature posessive hair up his butt over the bond with Eric. Besides, she didn't do more than kiss (and fantasize) about Alcide. I agree that Sam is just wrong - not for her; same with Calvin. If she could fins a Were or Shifter than doesn't have any baggage (yeah right), it could possibly work, but I truly, deeply, fanatically want Sook & Eric to get together and stay together for a good long while. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Back to quotes:"Why do you think Eric would give a flying f^ck what Bill had been ordered to do, much less reveal it to a human woman, if he didn't have inappropriate feelings for you?" ~Pam ALL TOGETHER DEAD That Pam.... ;-)) 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Back to quotes:"Was that blasted Alcide trying to use you for some purpose in the contest?" "You should talk about using." "Yes, but I'm straightforward about it," Eric said, his blue eyes wide & guileless. ... I winced as I began to walk out of the office. "Wait one moment," he said suddenly and justlikethat he was in front of me I looked up, feeling massively tired. he bent & kissed me on my mouth, as softly as a butterfly's fluttering. "You said I told you you were the best I'd ever had," he said. "But did you respond in kind?" "Don't you wish you knew?" I said, and went back to work. Ok, kind of a silly question on Eric's part, because he's basically asking her if he's better than Bill. Did Eric know that Bill was her first? I just though of that and I can't honestly say if he knew or not. Hmmm... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Okay, I know that's a long one, but I love how he mentions the shower second, after the talk by the fire. SO telling."When Sookie was thinking about her time with Eric - the thing that she loved the most was that he would talk to her and listen, really listen to her and cared about what she said and what was going on in her life. I think that some of that is still (and perhaps always has been) part of the 'real' Eric. That he picks up on the moments of personal (non-sexual) intimacy that they shared - seems to say a lot. It sort of picks up on what was left unsaid after this quote: Eric started talking the moment I emerged, " I can't believe I -" "Yeah, yeah, I know, loved a mere human, made all those promises, was as sweet as pie and wanted to stay with me forever," I muttered. Surely there was a shortcut we could take through this scene. "I can't believe I felt something so strongly and was so happy for the first time in hundreds of years," Eric said with some dignity. "Give me some credit for that, too." 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

"It sort of picks up on what was left unsaid after this quote:I think I mentioned how he referred to the fireside talk first and the shower second when recalling his memories to Sookie. I thought that was very sweet and a sure sign there's something more there than lust. Possibly one of my favorite moments in all 8 books... can't wait for #9 where **fingers crossed** cocky Eric (no pun intended) and Sookie "reunite" PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE!!! Now, from Book 6... "This is actually kind of exciting," a familiar voice said, and I glanced up to see Eric looking down at us with wide blue eyes. He looked immaculate: neat as a pin in blue jeans that had a crease and a blue & white striped dress shirt (yummy *Ali). His blond har was shining clean and (here was the most enviable part) dry. I hated his guts. I felt nasty tp the nth degree. "I could use some help here," I sanpped and he said "Of course Sookie, though I'm enjoying the wiggling around. Let go of the girl and stand up." He was as vulnerable as he'd ever be when he was in his right mind, so why not just jump him and forget about all the rest of it?! Do you find this valuable? |

This is by far my favorite thread. I find myself reading the whole thing from the beginning, over and over. It's like Bill and Eric's greatest hits. All the good bits and none of the filler.
